ComiCONN fans come out in droves at Foxwoods Resort Casino

ComiCONN "A show for the Fans by the Fans" 2017 is officially in the books. After a full weekend of events and non stop lines, ComiConn staff can now enjoy a much deserved relaxing week for a bit and reflect on the happenings of the weekend. Although we all know in the entertainment business, the work and planning never really ends. I personally was there to cover the event on day one (Saturday) and as always really enjoyed myself.

Fans packed Foxwoods Resort Casino for this event. ComiCONN "A show for the Fans by the Fans" was based out of Hartford last year, so this was their first time hosting it at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Sometimes when an event changes location, you lose a portion of the crowd and that certainly wasn`t the case with this event. Fans lined up through out the entire day to get in and seemed to be an endless line.

Some really great cosplayers came out in droves including some wrestling themed such as CM Punk, Macho Man Randy Savage and Shinsuke Nakamura. We saw several versions of Batman including Con regular (Matches Malone) and his partner in crime Wonder Woman (Kuno Yuro).

There were fans from all over New England and some international fans as well! Nick, Ron and Pete made their traditional Con appearance as sponsors for the Altered Reality Entertainment event.

One thing i noticed on the faces of the fans was excitement and pure joy as they met some of their favorite stars of film and television. The event was headlined by actor Ron Pearlman best known as Hellboy, Beast from the Beauty and the Beast tv series and of course his work on Sons of Anarchy. Ron`s Sons of Anarchy companions were also on hand such as Theo Rossi and Ryan Hurst.

Actor / puppeteer Simon Williamson made a rare appearance from England. Simon worked on such movies as The Dark Crystal, The great Muppet Caper, Muppet Christmas Carol, Little shop of Horrors and Return of the Jedi where he played Max Rebo of the Max Rebo band.

Jason David Frank (Green / White Power Ranger) was also on hand and I must say I have never seen such a passionate following for one actor. Jason has such a strong following and had the longest non stop line at the Con. This is the 4th time I have seen Jason doing a Con signing and every single time, he has the longest line and is literally non stop through out each of these events. It`s truly amazing to see the respect from his fans and really shows what type of guy he is in person. He rarely takes breaks and makes sure to keep his fans happy.

WWE legends were also in full force including Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs), WWE Hall of Famer Lita, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and WWE Hall of Famer "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Independent wrestler Andrew Anderson was also on hand who also appeared in the movie "The Wrestler".

The venue was beautiful and a great layout for ComiConn "A show for the Fans by the Fans" without a doubt. You had the main room which included tons of merchandise vendors, Artist Alley and dozens of celebrities. There were some areas outside of the main room which included some professional cosplayers, Speed Dating, Local vendors and sponsors, The ComiConn "A show for the Fans by the Fans" official store and even some great vehicles on display.

Other celebrities who appeared through out the weekend included Joey Lauren Adams, Ming Chen, Jeremy Palko, Ann Mahoney, Gaten Matarazzo, Spencer Wilding, Ray Park, Sean Maher, Gil Gerard, Felix Silla, Kevin Sussman, Aaron Schwartz, Elizabeth Ludlow, John O`Hurley, Billy Zabka, Martin Kove, Brian O` Halloran, Tawny Kitaen, Robert Romanus, Kevin Grevioux, Taimak, Bill Diamond, Sendhil Ramamurthy and even a V reunion which featured Frank Ashmore, Richard Herd, Greta Blackburn and Marc Singer.

Meeting Spencer Wilding (Darth Vader) was one of the highlights as he was an absolute pleasure to speak with and such a nice guy. Marc Singer was another one who went above and beyond as he made sure to reach out and shake everyone`s hand that walked by his booth.

The staff were very friendly as always and at this point are a well oiled machine. When an issue pops up, they are able to work through it and do what needs to be done.
